The Probation Department provides screening and referral services to youth under the age of 18 who are referred by schools, parent and police as persons in need of supervision due to truancy, incorrigibility or runaway behavior. Youth under age 16 can be referred by the police as juvenile delinquents involving the commission of criminal acts. The focus is on assessing the needs of the youth and family in order to refer them to appropriate services providers such as substance abuse services, family counseling services or mental health services. To quality for services, the age of the youth and the nature of the presenting behavior must come under the jurisdiction of the family court. Furthermore, the person making the referral must be prepared to seek family court action if intervention fails.

Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m to 5 p.m.

Mission: The Probation Department is dedicated to public safety by holding individuals accountable while they participate in a rehabilitation services.

Funding Sources: Funding is provided by Ontario County and the state of New York.

Fees Charged: There is no fee for service.
